Wow this was a fun one! We photographed and filmed Jade and Marc’s wedding day at The Timber Barn St Jacobs in summer 2024, and it had everything you could hope for:
First off, an awesome venue. Like all Stella Collective venues, Timber Barn is cute, quaint, and nestled in St Jacobs Ontario - but doesn’t sacrifice anything. As always, the Stella Co team is amazing (I’ve been a preferred vendor with them for 5 years now!) and went above and beyond for Jade and Marc on their wedding day.
Secondly, Jade and Marc had many handcrafted details on their day. Jade personally worked on many of their DIY elements, including their signage and their reception decor. This really added a new element of colour and personality to the already amazing Timber Barn Wedding Venue, and brought really amazing pops of colour to the rustic space.
Third, Jade and Marc chose to do a first look by the riverside prior to their ceremony. This is a fantastic way to relax into the day, embrace it together as partners, AND enjoy your cocktail hour with your guests. I highlight recommend this for wedding days where the ceremony and reception are happening on the same property (but mostly also because it allows me to eat more fantastic Gilt Catering food wink wink).
Fourth, I just love how we captured this day in Photo and in Video. Jade and Marc selected a package that had full photography coverage as well as a wedding film including audio. I found this to be a particularly great combination when it came to moments like the end of their wedding film, a very touching end to Marc’s parents speech. This blog post and wedding film will give you a great idea of how we capture these moments side by side as one easy and fun team on the wedding day!
Last shoutout goes to the creative night photo we captured at the end of the day. I had an idea and got ready for it, and as I began to execute the idea, a car started pulling away from the venue and it’s brake lights made it into the night photo for just a second. Quickly realizing what a cool effect it was adding, I chased the car down the street until it came to a stop, and told them about my idea, and they gladly reversed until they were a part of the photo. I love when cool moments like this align to create a photograph that couldn’t have been made or predicted any other way.
If you haven’t heard of the Timber Barn, it’s located on Spring St in downtown St Jacobs. You’re truly in for a treat if you haven’t visited Timber Barn or St Jacobs before. The town is so cute and hosts amazing little shops and fantastic spots for food and drink like Block Three Brewing and Those Pizza Guys.
Jade and Marc hired me to photograph their day as well as capture a wedding film and full ceremony and speeches.
